Refund Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This Refund Policy applies to paid OnOffMyPC device unlocks and related purchases when billing is enabled. During the public free launch, paid unlocks may not be offered; this policy applies when checkout is available. It supplements the Terms of Service.
Merchant of record
When paid unlocks are offered, payment collection, taxes, invoices, receipts, and refund processing are handled by Polar, which acts as merchant of record and authorised reseller. By completing checkout you also agree to Polar’s Checkout Buyer Terms. Polar’s systems and policies may set final timing and eligibility for refund issuance to your original payment method.
What you buy
A device unlock is typically a one-time purchase that unlocks remote control for the specific logical device record selected at checkout — not a recurring subscription — unless we clearly state otherwise at purchase. Unlock entitlement is tied to that cloud device record in your account, not automatically to a physical ESP32 serial number or a replacement board.
How to request a refund
Email [email protected] with:
- The email address on your OnOffMyPC account
- Order or receipt reference if you have it (Polar receipt or order ID)
- Which device unlock the request concerns
- A short reason for the request
For unused unlocks (little or no productive use of paid remote control after purchase), please contact us within 14 days of purchase. We aim to respond within a few business days. We may ask Polar to process an approved refund.
Effect of refunds on device unlocks
- Full refund — revokes the corresponding device unlock entitlement once Polar notifies us that the order was fully refunded.
- Partial refund — does not automatically revoke the unlock; the entitlement remains unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.
A checkout return page alone is not proof of payment or refund; unlock state follows verified Polar notifications.
When refunds may be declined
We may decline or limit refunds where, for example:
- The unlock has been substantially used and the request is outside a fair unused window
- There is evidence of abuse, fraud, chargeback misuse, or Terms violations
- The issue was caused by local setup outside our control (Wi-Fi, Wake-on-LAN, wiring, hardware failure) after you had a reasonable chance to test the Service
- Polar or applicable payment-network rules prohibit the refund
Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot legally be waived in your jurisdiction (including mandatory consumer cooling-off rights where they apply).
Lost, stolen, or replaced hardware
An unlock applies to the logical device record in your account. If your ESP32 is lost, stolen, or replaced, entitlement does not automatically transfer to a new device record. Ownership transfer between accounts is not currently supported as a self-serve feature. Contact [email protected]; we may help on a case-by-case basis (for example migrating entitlement after identity verification), but a lost device alone is not a guaranteed refund.
Chargebacks
Please contact us before filing a payment dispute so we can investigate. Filing a chargeback without contacting us may result in suspension of the related unlock or account while the dispute is resolved.
